Frank Trace - BIO

Born in Canton, Ohio, Frank had dreams of becoming a commercial artist and designer. After graduating from high school Frank was hired as the companies first store manager with the Camelot Music chain. Planning on working to save money to go on to art college, Frank proved to be a valuable employee for Camelot Music and was promoted to District Supervisor and then was brought into Corporate Headquarters to work in the Purchasing Department. Needless to say Frank enjoyed his job and never did attended art college. Instead he made a successful career in the music industry.

Early retirement brought Frank to the start of his second career and his involvement with Line Dancing. Always a "music enthusiast" and an avid dancer, Frank had a DJ business hosting weddings, parties and social affairs. His introduction to Line Dancing began as he attended area Country Western Dance Clubs. His fast capacity to pick up dance steps along with his ability to work with people opened the door to his full involvement in Line Dancing.

Currently Frank teaches 4 Line Dance Classes a week and hosts a monthly Line Dance Social. He’s also the director of the annual OHIO SUMMER DANCE CLASSIC line dance workshop.

Frank began choreographing line dances after much prompting from his students. His first choreographed dance, "Adaptable", took first place at the JG Line Dance Marathon in North Carolina in 2007. Since then Frank has followed that up with a series of popular dances including such hits as; "Happy Radio", Duck Soup", "Love Letter Waltz”, "Brazil", “Love Me Or Leave Me”, “Martini Time”, “Mamma Maria”, "Fun In The Sun”, “Cooler Than Me”, “Moving Hips”, “Can You 2 Step”, Foxy Girl”, “Emergency”, “Bounce Bounce", “Gleeful Waltz”, Mr. Santa/Mr. Sandman and so many more.

Frank says Line Dancing has become his hobby, his vocation and his passion. He is quick to point out that one of the major perks of his involvement in the Line Dance World has been the many wonderful and warm friends that have come into his life.

In 2010 Mamma Maria received the "DANCER’S CHOICE AWARD" for "Beginner Line Dance of the Year" at the Las Vegas Dance Explosion in Las Vegas and also was voted one of the “LEGENDARY LINE DANCES” in 2016.

Frank’s first choreographed dance, ADAPTABLE, won two first place awards at the 2007 JG Line Dance Marathon on June 3, 2007 in Raleigh, NC. He entered his line dance, Adaptable, in the line dance competition and was shocked to win in two categories. Best new NOVICE “COUNTRY” LINE DANCE and best new NOVICE “NON-COUNTRY” LINE DANCE. He entered the dance in both categories because it is very “adaptable” with many types of music. The songs where “Trust Yourself” by Carlene Carter (country) and “Come On Over” by Christine Aguilera (pop).

Frank wishes to thank everyone who over the years has supported him and his choreography.
